The Ultimate Night Drifting Experience

On this episode of our YouTube series, we take you on a thrilling journey as we put a 300 horsepower turbo on the S15 and go night drifting at the 2023 Yamanashi Drift Night Meeting at Sportsland Yamanashi. This annual summer drift competition is like no other, held at night with entrants encouraged to dress up their cars with illuminations for the crowd.

A Shakedown Run with the New Setup

After facing some turbo problems in the past, we finally got the chance to enter this event with our S15 equipped with a brand new HKS GT4135 turbo and tuned F-Con ECU. The first shakedown run with the new setup was exhilarating, with the car performing much better than before. The turbo was kicking in just right, and we were ready to take on the night drift competition.

The First Battle

As the competition kicked off, we found ourselves in a battle with another driver who seemed to have an advantage with bigger tires. Despite giving it our best shot, we couldn’t match the grip needed to win the race. It was a tough battle, but we were determined to learn from the experience.

A Night Session to Remember

Although we were knocked out in the top 32, we still had the chance to participate in a night session later on. It was a dream come true to drift under the dark sky, with the lights illuminating the track. The atmosphere was electrifying, and we were grateful for the opportunity to experience night drifting at its finest.

Reflecting on the Experience

After a day filled with adrenaline-pumping drift sessions, it was time to reflect on the performance of the car. The new turbo felt great, but there were also weaknesses that needed to be addressed, such as suspension, tires, and alignment. It was clear that fine-tuning the car for specific tracks would be key to unlocking its full potential.
