Η Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail είναι η τρίτη από τις τέσσερις ειδικές δημιουργίες που σχεδιάζει η βρετανική αυτοκινητοβιομηχανία για μερικούς από τους πιο εκλεκτούς πελάτες της. Για αυτές τις μονάδες του πολυτελούς μοντέλου, η Rolls-Royce χρησιμοποιεί τους πιο δυνατούς «άσους» που κρύβει στα μανίκια του τμήματος εξατομίκευσης.
Ξεκινώντας από την ονομασία του νέου μοναδικού μοντέλου, αναφέρεται στην περιοχή της Αρκαδίας στην Πελοπόννησο, η οποία στην ελληνική μυθολογία ήταν μία εκδοχή του παραδείσου, αφού εκεί ζούσαν δρυάδες, νύμφες και άλλα πνεύματα της φύσης. Ο πελάτης, στου οποίου τα χέρια θα καταλήξει, ήθελε να δημιουργήσει έναν χαλαρωτικό, «παραδεισένιο» χώρο, για τις ώρες μετά από την εργασία του.
Η Rolls-Royce έφτιαξε μία ιδιαίτερη απόχρωση για το αμάξωμα του οχήματος, ενσωματώνοντας σωματίδια αλουμινίου και γυαλιού μέσα στη βαφή, με αποτέλεσμα να λαμπυρίζει στο φως. Τα μέρη που συνήθως το ανθρακόνημα μένει εκτεθειμένο, έχουν βαφτεί ασημί, ενώ το ξύλινο πάνελ στο πίσω μέρος του roadster έχει διατηρηθεί.
Στο εσωτερικό κυριαρχεί το λευκό και το ταμπά, τόσο στα καθίσματα, όσο και στο τιμόνι. Φυσικά, οι ξύλινες επιφάνειες δε λείπουν από το ταμπλό, τα πάνελ των θυρών και το τμήμα πίσω από τις θέσεις, με τους Βρετανούς να χρειάζονται 8.000 ώρες για το φινίρισμά τους.
Αυτό δεν είναι, όμως, το μέρος του αυτοκινήτου, του οποίου η εξέλιξη διήρκησε περισσότερο καιρό, αφού η Rolls-Royce χρειάστηκε δύο χρόνια για τη δημιουργία και πέντε μήνες για τη συναρμολόγηση του ρολογιού που έχει τοποθετηθεί στο ταμπλό. Το καντράν έχει 119 έδρες, ενώ οι εγκοπές που δείχνουν τις ώρες είναι τόσο μικρές, που χρειάστηκε η χρήση μεγεθυντικού φακού για να βαφτούν.
Κάτω από το κάλυμμα κρύβεται ο V12 twin-turbo κινητήρας χωρητικότητας 6,6 L που αποδίδει 593 PS 840 Nm ροπής. Η εταιρεία δεν εστιάζει τόσο στην ισχύ και τις επιδόσεις, αλλά στην πολυτελή εμφάνιση της Arcadia Droptail και έτσι δεν έχει επέμβει στην κινητήρια μονάδα.

The new Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail is the third of the four special creations designed by the British automaker for some of its most elite customers. For these units of the luxury model, Rolls-Royce utilizes the most powerful “aces” hidden up its customization sleeve.
Starting with the name of the new unique model, it is inspired by the region of Arcadia in the Peloponnese, which in Greek mythology was a version of paradise, as it was inhabited by dryads, nymphs, and other nature spirits. The client, in whose hands it will end up, wanted to create a relaxing, “paradisiacal” space, for the hours after work.
Rolls-Royce created a unique hue for the vehicle’s bodywork, incorporating aluminum and glass particles in the paint, resulting in a sparkling effect in the light. Areas where carbon fiber is usually exposed have been painted in silver, while the wood panel at the rear of the roadster has been preserved.
The interior is dominated by white and tan, both in the seats and the steering wheel. Of course, the wooden surfaces are present on the dashboard, door panels, and the area behind the seats, with the British craftsmen needing 8,000 hours for their finish.
However, the part of the car that took longer to evolve was the Rolls-Royce clock, as it took the company two years to create and five months to assemble the timepiece on the dashboard. The dial has 119 seats, and the indentations indicating the hours are so small that a magnifying glass was needed for painting.
Under the hood lies the V12 twin-turbo engine with a capacity of 6.6 L that delivers 593 PS and 840 Nm of torque. The company does not focus so much on power and performance, but on the luxurious appearance of the Arcadia Droptail, so it has not intervened in the power unit.
