Modern vs Classic: R35 GTR vs R34 GTR
Welcome to Gas Gang! Today, we’re back with a legendary faceoff between two different generations of Japan’s iconic Nissan GTR. The R35 GTR takes on the Skyline R34 GTR in what promises to be an emotional showdown. Stay tuned as we dive into this epic battle.
Introduction to the Showdown
Welcome to the Manol Strip, where enthusiasts come to let their cars do the talking. Today, we’re witnessing a generational showdown between two Japanese cars that hold legendary status within the car community. We’re pitting the newer R35 GTR against its older R34 GTR sibling to see what happens when these heavily tuned icons hit the strip. In partnership with Race Logic, we’ll be carrying out two sets of races: a quarter-mile roll race and a drag race to the quarter-mile. All races are best of three, and we’ll be using the V-Box Performance Box Touch to record data such as 0 to 60 times and quarter-mile times to give you a comprehensive look at how these beasts perform.
Meet the Competitors
First up, representing the R35 GTR fans, we have Sam from Sambo’s Tires in his 2017 686 brake horsepower Stage 4.25 3.8 L V6 twin-turbo Nissan R35 GTR. On the other side, representing the R34 GTR fans, we have Marus in his 2001 890 brake horsepower 2.8 L straight-6 single turbo-powered Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. Prices for these legendary cars have skyrocketed in recent years, with the R34 GTR costing around £130,000 and the R35 GTR costing around £42,000 after mods and tuning. It’s going to be a battle of power and performance between these two incredible machines.
Pre-Race Interviews
The competitors share their thoughts before the race. Marus mentions the power difference and the challenges of driving a manual transmission, while Sam discusses the advantages of his DCT gearbox and launch control. Both drivers are excited for the challenge and eager to see who comes out on top.
Roll Races
The first set of races are roll races, and the R35 GTR takes the lead in both rounds due to some gear-shifting issues on the R34’s part. The R35’s mid-range speed proves to be stronger, and it secures the first victory in this category.
Drag Races
Next up are the drag races, where the R35 GTR once again dominates, thanks to its DCT gearbox and launch control. Despite a strong start from the R34, gear-shifting issues plague Marus once again, and the R35 takes the win in all three rounds.
Final Results
After analyzing the data from the races, it’s clear that the R35 GTR outperformed the R34 GTR in both the roll and drag races. The R35 GTR recorded faster quarter-mile and 0 to 60 times, securing a clean sweep in this showdown. Congratulations to Sam and his R35 GTR for the impressive performance!
Conclusion
Today’s races showcased the power and performance of these two iconic Japanese cars. The R35 GTR proved to be the superior machine, demonstrating its modern technology and speed.
