The Story of the Record-Breaking Honda Engine
Welcome to officially Gather let’s get it for the best in Universal premium Ester containing engine oils and fuel additives for both petrol and diesel engines check the links in the description so yes guys today we are back down at Auto Talk in the engine room with the main man Josh.
The Record-Breaking Day
On that fateful day, we achieved the fastest street Honda record, hitting 960 at nearly 157 mph on street tires on a bumpy Runway. The engine was performing exceptionally, with repeated 3-second 100 to 200 runs until disaster struck. The throttle got stuck wide open on the record pass, leading to catastrophic engine failure.
The Engine Breakdown
Upon stripping down the engine, we discovered the cause of the failure was not what we expected. A valve had failed, smashing through a port and flooding the cylinder with coolant, causing smoke and chaos. The damage was severe, with valves broken and heads detached.
Assessing the Damage
Despite the destruction, the engine block and rods held up surprisingly well. The rods, rated for 600 brake horsepower, remained intact, showcasing their durability. The block showed signs of minimal damage, with the potential for repair and reuse.
Building a New Engine
With the old engine out of commission, it was time to move onto the next phase of our journey. We have a new Ramy racing sleeved and O-ring bottom end K20 engine ready to be built. This engine is set to reach 1200 brake horsepower, with upgraded parts to ensure reliability.
Looking to the Future
As we embark on the rebuild process, we reflect on the achievements of the previous engine, breaking records and exceeding expectations. While the engine may have met its end, it paved the way for even greater accomplishments in the future. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and future builds!
Final Thoughts
As we close this chapter of the record-breaking Honda engine, we want to express our gratitude to all who have been a part of this journey. From Auto Talk to Romain, the support and camaraderie have been invaluable. While we may have lost an engine, the memories and accomplishments will live on. Here’s to the next chapter of our engine-building saga!
